Non-members may now enjoy the golf course at Cleveland Country Club.

The temporary offer is during the COVID-19 pandemic is a way to try to make a difference, offering golfers an opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine.

General Manager Allyson Darling says it’s all about sharing and giving back to the community.

“Clubs belong to the community. The old school, locked gate mentality is kind of leaving and it’s important for us to give back any chance we get,” she said. “We do value our community and see an opportunity for the club to give back.”

Tee times are available from 9 a.m. daily. The golf shop closes at 7 p.m. Golfers are asked to call ahead for reservations to stagger tee times throughout the day. Carts are available for single riders and are sanitized between each use. Walking tee times are also available. Rates for 18 holes of golf are $35 per player on weekdays and $50 on weekends.

Since social distancing is important at this time, in addition to spreading out tee times to prevent overcrowding, Cleveland Country Club is removing all community food and beverage stations, golf course towels, bunker rakes and ball washers. Cups on the greens have been lifted to avoid golfer contact and amenity centers provide hand sanitizer and wipes.

“We’re all in this together and trying to get through it and offer the community a place to come and enjoy the outdoors,” Darling said.

Cleveland Country Club is at 1360 E. Marion St., Shelby. To reserve a tee time, call the golf pro shop at 704-482-1711.
